Today I'm reviewing The Red Fletch by Margaret McNellis, self-published by Silver Arrow Books in 2021.
For this review, I have two guests with me: my seven years old daughter, and her nine years old sister, who have both read the book with me. They share their opinion of the book in this video.
Overview of points discussed in this review:
Strengths of the book
Clear character desire and obstacles
Wonderful immersion into the world
Great characterization
Strong cause-and-effect trajectory
Strong emotional scenes
Empowering heroine who stays true to herself
Weaknesses of the book
Minor clarity and proof-reading misses
In all, this book was a fantastic read with a heroine who went through her journey with all the flaws, guilt, and bad choices that come with strong misbeliefs, but she emerges more powerful at the end of The Red Fletch. It was a joy to see Alys Fletcher mature and grow and stand up for herself!
Thank you so much Elli and girls for your thoughtful and honest review! I could not stop smiling as I listened. I can't wait to know your thoughts on book 2 once it's published! <3 I'm so delighted that you enjoyed this story. - Margaret
